Chase Shoemaker is CHLC’s Director of Music, leading the choir and children’s choir, accompanying worship and ensembles, and helping bring the story of Jesus to life through music. Through his leadership, music becomes a way the congregation proclaims the gospel, offers prayer, and is formed in faith.

A lifelong church musician, Chase began serving at age 10 as a cantor and accompanist in his hometown parish. His passion for sacred music and composition has earned him multiple awards, and his works have been performed in both live and virtual concert.

In addition to his work at CHLC, Chase also serves as the artistic director and conductor of the Des Moines Gay Men's Chorus. When he’s not making music, Chase enjoys time with loved ones, doing a mean “Pig the Pug” impression for his niece and nephew, and hanging out with his corgi, Rosie.
